Palm Springs: The Future on the L’Horizon for Palm Springs Looks Bright

Last time we checked in on L’Horizon Palm Springs, the trumped up new name for the midcentury Horizon Palm Springs, it was preparing to reopen after a nearly year-long refurbishment, gunning for the top end PSP clientele.

Well now it’s open, the website is finally up and running (kind of – we still can’t see anything but a seductive lady on the homepage and the reservations tab) and the photos are in. So without further ado, here’s the new look:

Mid-century perfection:

Sassy, streamlined rooms:

Sophisticated bathrooms:

Delicious, angular pool:

These pics go some way to explaining the rates – which run $ 365-$ 500 in summer and $ 605-$ 5000 in winter. Yes, more than the Parker (which just ran a $ 139 summer deal) and The Willows. The reservations tab mentions that Frette linen, Le Labo toiletries twice-daily housekeeping, house car within a three mile radius (which will get you to/from the airport and the main strip), daily yoga, bike rental and phone calls are included.

So is it worth paying that much more? Early days of course, and early reviews tend to skew towards friends of the property, but Yelp and TripAdvisor suggest it is indeed up a level (white BMW house car? Eat your heart out, Parker). Could that be a sun rising over l’Horizon? We’ll be watching.
