Earlier this week, the weather in our hometown of London seemed to take an unfortunate turn from sunny July to rainy October. Desperate for something to distract us with thoughts of warm summer days, we stumbled upon these photos of the new Hotel de Tourrel in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, the perfect solution. Opened in May, it combines a 17th century stone manor with sleekly contemporary interiors.
We love the light airiness of the above guestroom, which is one of only seven simply labelled Numéro Un à Numéro Sept. Crisp white walls, wooden floors, high ceilings, the stone wall with the B&O flat screen TV. Its like a palate cleanser compared to, say, this (shudder).
How about a chilled glass of whatever strikes your fancy while lounging on these sofas as the sun sets?
We wholeheartedly love this grand staircase as well; the stone cool to the touch on that warm summer day.
The former home of the de Tourrel dAlmeran family, the hotel has a nouveau Mediterranean restaurant (above) and wine bar. Rates at Hotel de Tourrel start at 350 ($ 385) a night on a Saturday early August. We’ll just go back to bringing an umbrella and weathering the rain for now.
