In case you were thinking that labeling whats going on over in Macau as Macau Hotel Madness was unnecessary exaggeration, take a look at this: Studio City Macau, to open sometime later this year, will be bringing us the worlds first figure eight ferris wheel, 130 meters up in the air.
Thats right, those two golden circles that sort of look like Olympic rings are in fact a ferris wheel, joining the 1,600 rooms divided between the Celebrity Tower and the Star Tower. For some real-life photos of what that looks like, keep reading.
We saw these construction photos over at Contemporist and had to share them with you. Described as a monumental new world of glamor and excitement, the resort has Art Deco-inspired architecture and is cinema-inspired. The loading deck is on the 23rd floor, with a total of 17 steampunk-themed cabins.
It takes 15 minutes to make the full journey along the inside of the eight, without crossing over in the middle.
Compared to whats happening outside, the first impression of the rooms seems almost sedate, with deep red in the carpet and the walls, and rectangular-patterned headboard. The list of amenities for the resort is almost too long to list: 30 restaurants, a high-end shopping center, endless entertainment (including a 4D Batman experience), and a 500,000 square foot casino. No details on rates or a definitive opening date yet though, but if all goes as planned the hotel should be up and running before the year is out.
