When Four Seasons announced it would be September for its Seoul property to open, we had one (close up) photo of a guestroom that only hinted at what would be inside and no website. Five months later and we do have a website for Four Seasons Seoul, along with reservations and lots more on the visual front, though only renderings.
Above one of those renderings, which shows a Deluxe Room in much more detail. We spy a marble-entry that leads to a large bedroom with light blue patterned carpet, that darker blue in the narrow strip above the bed and the chairs, and lots of light wood. We like the shelving surrounding the nightstands, and the marble of the bathroom seems to come back in the cabinet that holds coffee and tea facilities.
And what beautiful marble it is, with the dark lines like sketched charcoal across the white surfaces. All rooms (there are 317) have dual vanities and separate rain showers and bathtubs. An entry-level Deluxe Room starts at 44 sq m (474 sq ft), with the three-bedroom Presidential Suite nearly ten times as large at 413 sq m (4,445 sq ft) which comes with its own private treatment room and sauna.
This is the lobby, with again interesting marble (we think?) on the floor and a multi-pillared centrepiece that were assuming has a reference to local architecture anyone that can tell us, please shout in the comments.
This is Maru, the Korean word for living room, and is an all-day venue, with everything from breakfast to afternoon tea to dinner served. Connected to Maru, Confections by Four Seasons serves food on the go.
We told you there was going to be a hidden speakeasy, and this is it: Charles H. named for Charles H. Baker, the American cocktail writer.
Kioku serves Japanese cuisine in a sky-lit three-storey temple of culinary precision, there is Italian restaurant and bar Boccalino, The Market Kitchen for pan-Asian food and Yu Yuan for Cantonese.
Executive floors are par for the course in Asia, so the Four Seasons will have one as well, with the usual facilities and food presentations. An extensive spa comes with an indoor pool and fitness center.
And rates? Despite the late September opening, we cannot book a room before October 28, at which points a Deluxe Room goes for KRW445,000 ($ 385), including breakfast for two.
