Who knew there was only one Autograph Collection property in Germany until now? And whod have thought that Dresden would be the second city to get one?
Gewandhause Dresden, which reopened after a major refurbishment in April, has just joined the Berlins Hotel am Steinplatz in the Autograph Collection. And while you may not associate Dresden with historic buildings (for obvious reasons), this is in a baroque palazzo dating back to 1768. Youd only really know that from the striking exterior, though – inside its all a sleek modern affair, with funky flooring, gauzy white drapes and a rather stunning inner atrium.
As well as the 97 rooms, theres a restaurant, the Meatery – which serves dry-aged beef from its own maturing chamber – a cake shop, Kuchen Atelier, and a bar. To slough all that food off, theres also an indoor pool.
Prices are pretty low, considering – rates tonight start from a mere 115 ($ 125). See you in Dresden?
