Miami Beach: The Marriott Stanton Brings a Bit of Wynwood to South Beach

There’s no denying that Wynwood is one of the hottest neighborhoods in Miami. It has awesome bars and restaurants, great art galleries and, its most famous feature, colorful murals and street art. The only thing missing? Hotels.

We’re sure that boutique hotels will find a way into the area but in the meantime, the Marriott Stanton South Beach is bringing a little Wynwood flavor to the South of Fifth (“SoFi”) neighborhood.

Drawing inspiration from the Wynwood scene, the hotel invited local graffiti artists to unleash their spray cans on the temporary walls surrounding areas under renovation. But the beautification project didn’t end there. The Stanton also began offering guests graffiti-art lessons led by Atomik, a local Miami artist whose smiling Orange character that you see here has become somewhat of a city icon.

Guests gear up for the lesson (there are masks to avoid paint fume inhalation) and in no time they’re putting their newfound spray-painting techniques to work on their own creations.

While their work has to remain behind when they check out, the hotel provides a photo of their artwork so they can go social media crazy and prove their streetcred long after they get home. Classes are private and cost $ 170 per person, which includes all materials used in the graffiti sesh.

To book a class, guests can call the hotel at (305) 536-7700.
