Miami: A Sneak Peek at SLS LUX Brickell, Opening in 2017

Museum quality art for all to enjoy is part of the SLS LUX experience, like this iconic Fernando Botero bronze sculpture whose new home is now in Miami.

SLS LUX’s mission is to “indulge the senses,” though “sense the indulgence” also comes to mind. Especially in Miami, with all eyes – certainly ours – on the upcoming SLS LUX Brickell Hotel & Residences.

The dynamic duo of sbe and The Related Group can already boast a sellout crowd – as in all 450 condos are gone with the Florida wind. Ah, but the SLS LUX hotel awaits us, rather we wait for it, and a 2017 opening. From the looks of things, we already thinks it’s a keeper.

This light, airy lobby is perfect for Miami, featuring super-high ceilings accentuated with slender patterned screens, and bold, Escher-like marble flooring. Don’t lose an earring.

The interiors are masterminded by Yabu & Pushelberg, one of the busiest hospitality design studios on the planet, to no surprise. The lobby, shown above, has a stylish, world class vibe to it, clearly appealing to the stylish world class traveler. By the way, there will be a multi-lingual translator on staff.

We do detect a subtle hint of SLS pink – or is it Marilyn pink – in the platform bed and bench. Either or, it works for us.

The rendering above is one of 85 all-suite guest rooms designed by Y&P, who are also designing the condos. Once again, Y&P deliver sophisticated glamour without the bling. We love the way it all comes together – the sexy curves of the dresser, the soft colors against a contrasting area rug, and the headboard-to-ceiling gridded mirror.

More fun with flooring patterns such as this one on the garden level terrace– a nice modern tribute to Miami’s lively, colorful past.

The 9th floor is dedicated to amenities– indoor, outdoor, and then some. You can swim laps, watch others swim laps from your cabana, kick around at the “soccer academy court,” take in a little night theater, or just hang out, as suggested in the rendering above.

SLS kicks it up a notch or two with its Miami location, as seen in this artsy, make that state-of-the-artsy, walls of endless color and interactive lighting.

We couldn’t leave out a mention of the views from the street (seen in the rendering above.) The complementary visuals are a collaboration of muralist Fabian Burgos, who created a Crayon box sampler of stripes on the lower floors, and kinetic lighting artist Ana Isabel Martinez, who has designed a movable feast of light on 58-story condo tower. That’s going to be some night light and yeah, we’ll all have to wait for it.
