Charlottesville: Too Cool for School: Graduate Charlottesville Makes Its Debut

More college fun in a hotel setting, as another location from Graduate Hotels is now open for business. As is the case with most of their properties this one is located in close proximity to a center of higher education. This time it’s the University of Virginia, as Graduate Charlottesville is now open for business—Thomas Jefferson would be proud.

It’s quite an upgrade if you ask us, as it’s replacing a former Red Roof Inn. There’s 135 rooms in all, and it’s just blocks away from the school and The Rotunda. The location sets it in walking distance to great shops and restaurants, but if you’re looking to stay on campus—of the hotel that is—they have you covered as well. Sheepdog Coffee will open this fall along with a rooftop bar just in time for the kids to return back to class.

As for design, one can expect something they’re calling “the sophisticated preppy style” of the city and the local area. Colors of pine green, rose, cream, and burgundy will all be utilized, as they’re going for a warm palette. Also will be appearances—some subtle and some not—of the area’s most famous citizens and alumni.

If you’re looking to visit we found weekend rates for as low as $ 179 per night for as soon as next month, but we can only expect things to run up from there. When school is back in session it looks like a Saturday night could set you back around $ 224.

Thankfully no matter the cost, the game room on the second floor—complete with a bar area, ping pong, and shuffleboard—is well worth the price of admission.
